Insurance tops the list of complaints

New complaints figures from The Financial Ombudsman Service have revealed that the year to March 2011 was its busiest ever. More than 1m people used the free service – which settles disputes between financial providers and customers – to make a complaint about banking or insurance services. Of these, around 200,000 took their complaint all the way to a formal procedure.

Most of the grievances last year related to the mis-selling of payment protection insurance (PPI), which has affected millions of bank customers in the UK. The ombudsman expects PPI to dominate its case load for the next few years, as the banks face a deluge of claims from unhappy customers who feel they were wrongly sold the controversial loan cover.

Farquhar ruled out of TT2011

Ryan Farquhar has been ruled out of the rest of the 2011 Isle of Man TT races, the legacy of injuries received on the final evening of practice, last Friday. The KMR Kawasaki rider crashed at Keppel Gate in the closing stages of the session when he hit a false neutral on his Superbike machine – identical to what happended to Cameron Donald in 2009 – and although no bones were broken in the spill, the Dungannon ace has admitted he’s simply too battered and bruised to be able to continue.

Speaking on Sunday, a bitterly disappointed Ryan said; “The final evening of practice was going well and we were certainly heading in the right way after the problems we’d had earlier in the week but it all went wrong when I went through Keppel Gate. Read more…

JOHN MCGUINNESS WINS HIS SIXTEENTH TT TITLE WITH DAINESE SUPERBIKE VICTORY ON THE ISLE OF MAN

John McGuinness won his 16th TT today when he took victory in the Dainese Superbike race at the Isle of Man TT Races fuelled by Monster Energy.

The Honda TT Legends rider overcame an early challenge from Bruce Anstey and a strong pit stop at the end of lap 2 saw him reassert himself. When the Kiwi went out at Quarry Bends, John was already 20 seconds clear of the field. Read more…
